Castle and Park Arenenberg

The castle of Queen Hortense and her son Napoleon III, the last Emperor of the French, is surrounded by beautifully romantic grounds and is a fantastic vantage point for views over Lake Constance. Its original furnishings invite you to take a journey into the 19th century. The adjacent museum shop and bistro ‘Louis Napoléon’ await you with culinary and other delights.

Narrenberg was the name of Arenenberg in the Middle Ages. As part of the anniversary celebrations of the Council of Constance in Thurgau, a garden in medieval style was created with sections for pure pleasure as well as for functionality. It is an oasis of tranquillity and wonderful scents; an escape from the busy world of the 21st century.

Special tours for kids let legends and fairy tales come to life: For example, when Prince Louis Napoléon takes you through the long forgotten history of the Arenenberg Castle.
